Tour de France 2013: Viva la Brunch

The summer of 2013 was a memorable one, especially if you were a cycling enthusiast like me. That July, I had the pleasure of hosting a Tour de France themed celebration, transforming my home into a vibrant homage to this iconic event. It was a delightful blend of French culture and cycling spirit, wrapped in the patriotic colors of red, white, and blue. Here's a glimpse into how we celebrated.
To add a personal touch, I borrowed my dad's cherished Tour de France jersey pins - his souvenirs from my parents trip to Paris to watch the tour. These pins, were used creatively to secure the ribbons around the base of our champagne glasses.

No French-themed gathering would be complete without a selection of exquisite cheeses and delectable treats. We curated a menu that featured a variety of French-inspired delicacies, ensuring that every palate was pleased. From creamy brie to tangy Roquefort, our cheese selection was a hit.

The backdrop of our celebration was a striking Eiffel Tower poster, which immediately transported our guests to the heart of Paris. The red, white, and blue theme was not only a nod to the French flag but also to the Fourth of July, as our celebration took place during the first weekend of July. This dual celebration of French elegance and American patriotism created a vibrant and festive atmosphere that was enjoyed by all.

 Allez! Allez!

This breakaway project is inspired by my love of the Tour de France AND the amazing production team at NBC Sports. How they can edit together all those fantastic video packages so quickly is beyond me - it takes me most of the day to get one crafting video edited. Chapeau!

A term which is frequently used by cyclists to indicate respect for another's achievements. By saying "chapeau", which literally means "hat", the rider is doffing his cap to a colleague for a good day's riding.
