Crafting Delightful Penguin Bunting: A Fun DIY Project

Creating a festive atmosphere can be both enjoyable and meaningful, especially when you personalize your decorations. Today, I’ll guide you through making charming penguin bunting, perfect for any winter celebration or penguin-themed party. With some creative flair and a few simple materials, you’ll have a delightful decoration that adds a personal touch to your gathering.

Materials & Supplies 

Instructions for Penguin Bunting

  1. Cut Out Body Template: Begin by tracing the penguin body template onto black paper. Carefully cut out the shape to form the base of your penguin.

  2. Add White Center: Tear small pieces of white paper and glue them to the center of the penguin’s face and tummy to create its signature look.

  3. Attach Face Bits: Choose eyes and a beak from your cutouts, then glue them onto the penguin’s face to give it character.

  4. Happy Feet: Cut out the penguin feet from orange or yellow paper and glue them to the bottom of the penguin’s body for a touch of whimsy.

  5. Bunting Prep: On page 2 of your template, cut out the bunting shapes. Using the larger template, trace and cut out your desired bottom layer paper. Repeat this process with the top layer template.

  6. Layer It Up: Here’s where we add some personality! For the top layer of the bunting, I had my daughter paint on craft paper using blues and purples, which added a dynamic and vibrant look. For the bottom layer, we used various shades of blue scrap paper to create a lovely contrast. Glue the top layer onto the bottom layer, and then center the penguin on top. Punch two holes in the top corners of each bunting piece to allow for stringing.

  7. Assemble and Display: String your bunting pieces together and hang them in your desired location. Make multiple penguins and bunting pieces to ensure your decoration spans the desired length.
